He's Got the Whole World in His Hands
Psalm 121
“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
The dramatic opening question in Psalm 121 beautifully captures the heart of a weary traveler. Eyes down, rhythm slowed, shoulders hunched, feet wearied, the traveler pulls up, slows his pace and surveys the sublime surroundings. Though beautiful, these mountains can’t compare in size or formidability to the dark and not so distant ones he has supposed in his future fearing vision of despair. To be honest their transcendent beauty is lost to him. His heart and mind, the core of who he thought he was, is now being carried by the currents of anxiety and dread. Two more hours before the meeting. Two more hours until I hear those words . . . Two more hours of involuntary moving toward the edge of uncertainty. Will he hear the answer he dared to seek when he lifted his eyes? Will his mind allow it? Will his heart perceive it? Will his faith catch it? He has no strength, no resource left in him or near him with which to push the heavy door of darkness open just enough so that a blade of light could assault the darkness. But God . . .
Like the thud of the first heavy rain drop announces the coming torrent of necessary and needed water, or the mist of the morning backs off the fields with head bowed like a servant withdrawing from the presence of a king, a new and life giving reality rises when God whispers…Your help comes from me. I AM your sufficiency. I AM HERE. I don’t sleep. I need not slumber. I have not, or will not let your foot slip as I am your Protector, your shelter. I’m right here next to you, protecting you from all harm…your very life, your coming and your going. I . . . .love . . . you, dear child. Hear me, I. . . love . . . you.
Did he hear this right – my help comes from the Lord? Truly, this is too good to be true? My help? Picking up strength from the repetition of truth, my help comes from the Lord! This is the Lord, the MAKER of heaven and earth. And with that the door into a new and truer reality has been pushed open and hope springs like new grass in spring and the false god of pride and self-sufficiency fall at His feet.
My prayer for you is that your heart would be captured by the power of God’s love and will rise on the truth of His Word, His promised and pressing presence, and His kingdom purposes for you. He’s got the whole world in His hands….including yours.
Blessings – Brother Morgan

In Times Like These
“I’d love like I’m not scared"
I really like the old TV show, “The Lone Ranger.” At the conclusion of all the drama that the episode was all about, you could usually hear these words, “who was that masked man?” Today’s scripture passage, found in Mark chapter 4, is one of my favorites in all of the Bible. The reason I like this passage so much is because I see myself in the same shoes that the disciples were wearing.
Have you told Jesus what you are afraid of today?
What are you afraid of ? Losing your job? Having a loved one become ill and die ? Having that relationship fall apart that you have invested in for so long ? What drives our fears? Sometimes it’s the unknown, what is going to happen tomorrow? Or the what ifs. What will happen if ... you fill in the blanks. What can we rely on this life?
We are saying, God, I am trusting You
Our Pastor, Adam Denny has challenged us as a church family to respond in a God-honoring way as we try to reach out to our community in the days and weeks ahead in response to the coronavirus outbreak. How can we respond in a way that honors our Christian faith. We can be generous with our time, talents and resources. We can also rely upon our faith in our Savior.
God is with us
What were you doing this time last year?
What were you doing this time last year? Thinking about where you might be going with your family for spring break? Thinking about what flowers you might be planting in your yard. Oh, how a year makes such a difference in our lives. Or how does 1 week make a difference in our lives? This time 2 weeks ago, we were considering how the corona virus was affecting the people of China and other nations around the world. Today, it’s here in our country.
