We are saying, God, I am trusting You

Hope: Here’s what I’d do differently: I’d love like I’m not scared, give when it’s not fair, live life for another, take time for a brother.” For King & Country, “Fix My Eyes On You”

The Word Of God: READ: LUKE 7:1-10

Consider This: Our Pastor, Adam Denny has challenged us as a church family to respond in a God-honoring way as we try to reach out to our community in the days and weeks ahead in response to the coronavirus outbreak. How can we respond in a way that honors our Christian faith? We can be generous with our time, talents and resources. We can also rely upon our faith in our Savior.

In the Bible passage for today, Luke 7:1-10, we can see that it was a Roman centurion that demonstrated a faith in Jesus that we can imitate. The centurion was concerned about the welfare of one of his servants who was sick and about to die. The centurion heard of Jesus and requested that some of the Jewish elders try to enlist his (Jesus) help for his sick servant.

In today’s world, we don’t have servants but we become like servants for our Savior by being willing to reach out and help those in need. As mentioned, Pastor Adam has asked us as a church family to respond by donating food and hygiene items to our church’s food pantry so we can be generous with families who are undergoing difficult times meeting their basic needs. We as believers demonstrate faith in God when we contribute, alleviating others’ lack of basic necessities. In essence, we are saying, God, I am trusting You to provide for my needs as I try to meet the needs of my neighbor in their hour of need. I believe God will honor our commitment as we trust in His provision to meet everyone’s needs. You gotta have faith.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for meeting the need for “our daily bread.” May our hearts be generous like Yours as we contribute to helping others find their “daily bread” as well. Amen.
