Hope: “Here’s what I would do differently: I’d love like I’m not scared, give when it’s not fair, live life for another, take time for a brother.” For King and Country, “Fix My Eyes On You.”
The Word of God: READ, Mark 4:35-41
Consider This: What are you afraid of? Losing your job? Having a loved one become ill and die? Having that relationship fall apart that you have invested in for so long? What drives our fears? Sometimes it’s the unknown, what is going to happen tomorrow? Or the what-ifs. What will happen if ... you fill in the blank. What can we rely on in this life?
In the Scripture passage today from Mark’s gospel, we can appreciate the fact that Jesus’s closest friends were afraid. They were in a boat and they were in a life-threatening situation. Their boat was about to be swallowed up by a storm. And where was Jesus? He was asleep, resting from being so tired after ministering to the crowd. So his disciples woke him up. They said, don’t you care if we drown?
Have you told Jesus what you are afraid of today? Yes, He already knows. However, we exercise our faith when we call out to God. When we are honest and say, “God, don’t you care if my world is about to fall apart?” Please know that yes, God does care. He wants you to cry out to Him in the crisis of life and on the good days as well. Perhaps our faith grows the most when we rely on the One who can calm the storms and our anxious hearts as well. Fear not, for He is with you even in the storms of life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you that you are right beside us, no matter what storms we are experiencing in life. Please give us your peace that passes all understanding, when we call out to you. Reassure us that You are in control of all things and You will never leave us or forsake us. Amen.
