The Coming Catch

“So those who were scattered went on their way proclaiming the message of good news.”  Acts 8:4

In times of crises you find people who step up to who help carry their brother’s burdens, who act with purposefulness and compassion.  You can be proud to be part of a family of God who is doing this even as this is being written.   These faithful friends are acting as the visible hands and feet of Jesus as, with masks and gloved hands, they pack a care kits into a cars.

I don’t know about you, but I believe it’s often what we don’t know during turbulent times that leaves us unsettled and gives fertile ground for every seed of fear to lodge.  Let’s take a moment to look at those things we do know

1.       GOD IS SOVEREIGN.  God is in control!  It’s in the dark days that we realize that we are not in control.  We need God.  This is a good place to be once we arrive there.  But arrive there we must.

2.       HEARTS ARE OPEN.  We may see doors closed but hearts haven’t been this open for a long time. Disciples of Chris have altered the world when crisis stirred a nation.   It’s a mark of being fully developed.

3.       WE ARE CARRIERS. Our Kingdom Kid’s Choir sang these words last spring….”We are carriers of the light, come to shatter the darkness…” Believers are the carriers of the Light of the Gospel.  We must be ready in season and out to share the gospel.  2 Timothy 4:1-4 is a passage to read and commit to fulfilling at this time.  You are your neighbors minister

4.     YOU ARE NOT ALONE.  You are alone even if you don’t have any other family close by you have a church family.  This family has experience caring for people during a time of crisis.  You’ve sent team to help after hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, fires, addiction, homelessness, sickness, hospitalization, single parenthood, and the list could go on.

5.    YOU WERE MADE FOR ‘SUCH AS TIME AS THIS.’   We may be limited by our church gatherings but don’t let that lull you into thinking you are limited in your opportunities to serve Jesus and His Kingdom purposes.  Now more than ever people are ready to listen.    “So those who were scattered went on their way proclaiming the message of good news.”  Acts 8:4.

You may need help or my can give help.  Perhaps you are in a position that you can offer help through donation towards this effort.   You can reach out and call a church member and check up on each other.  You can Give Help!   Go to the website and the online giving options allow you to choose the Benevolence/love fund option.   We just did and I encourage you to do likewise.

Is your faith story shareable?  Does it highlight the Christ of the bible? Your story of involvement in the church is not the gospel, and is not the power to save people.  “’Don’t be afraid,’ Jesus told Simon, ‘From now on you will be catching people!’  Then they brought the boats to land, left everything, and followed Him.”  Luke 5:10-11

See you SOON with a NEW song in my heart!  Brother Morgan
