8 Ways to Grow in Your Love for the Lord.

If you are reading this devotional chances are you are familiar with North Run Baptist Church, her members and her mission.  This mission is expressed in a statement which serves to challenge the members and focus on our efforts and resources on the mission God has for us.  In reality being fully committed is an outward reality of an inward pursuit.  That mission begins in our homes, in our quite times, in our heart.  Psalm 119 verses 9-16 serve as today’s reminder for all who seek to be fully committed to Jesus Christ.

Psalm 119:9-16 (NIV)

How can a young man keep his way pure?  By living according to your word.

I seek you with all my heart; Do not let me stray from your commands.

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Praise be to you, O Lord; Teach me your decrees.

With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth.

I rejoice in following your statues as one rejoices in great riches.

I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways.

I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.

I appreciate a good list and in this scripture I find eight ways the humble in heart can grow in the Lord.   Consider these with me or create your own list from this scriptural passage.

1.  Live according to God’s Word.

2.  Seek God with all your heart.

3.  Hide the word of God in your heart

4.  Praise God for His truth found in the bible.

The word of God reveals the heart of God and serves to ignite the praise of God.

5.  Let the word of God and testimony of His work in your life fill your conversations.

6.  Rejoice in the statutes (God’s holy laws) of the Lord.

7.  Meditate on the precepts of God.

8.  Delight in and return to God’s word.  (Rinse and repeat, in a sense.)

Walk in His ways today!
