5 TIPS TO HELP YOU SOAR

As I have spoken with people over the past month one theme continues to surface…I feel separated and, to be honest, sometimes useless.  What can I do?    If you’ve had similar thoughts or feelings, you are not alone.  I hope you’ve found useful ways to confront that feeling.  Included below are tips gleaned from conversations with people just like you who are normally busy and now face a completely different allocation need for their time.  These tips, and many others can help you move from just surviving each day to soaring. Try one of these or comment and contribute one of you own.

Blessings!  Morgan

 1.  Dig deep in the Word.  A simple and meaningful suggestion to refresh your daily time in the word is to focus solely on one short book or passage of the bible and reread it once a day for 5 days.  This will be the beginning of a deeper love for that passage and hunger for the word of God.  This is fun to do with partner and share your journey and new discoveries.  For the first 20 days I went through the book of Philippians with a former student who is an officer in the Army and lives a great distance from RVA.  He and I were mutually encouraged by this challenge.

 2. Be intentional with your day just like you would be if you were still working.  “I wake up early to be in God’s Word and pray and give Him reign over my day (because He has it anyway).  Then I stick to my schedule and plans for the day.  I find that if I’m not intentional, I am easily seduced by my phone and distracted by things that would give me anxiety!”  Laura Calle

 3.  Do something healthy for yourself. Take a walk, get outside.   Then do someone else!  Reach out to someone by phone or in a card.  We’ve even seen pictures of one of our own church members, armed with a gracious sign going to the driveways of friends’ homes offering warm greetings.

4.  Prayer, Projects, and productivity. “I pray for peace and protections every day and then I leave it at that for God to do His work.  While trying to not take back any fears I’ve already given Him.  I pick a project to stay busy with.  I see it through to completion and then start another.  I always ask God how I can honor Him through my work.”   -Jen Jacobowitz-

 5.  Connect and Grow - Pastor Adam’s Book Club is a great way to spend time and builds towards community.  “The Unsaved Christian” is the current feature book and will be discussed on April 28th.  Here is a link to that purchase.  https://www.amazon.com/Unsaved-Christian-Reaching-Cultural-Christianity/dp/0802418805/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3DC466DU01H7J&dchild=1&keywords=the+unsaved+christian+by+dean+inserra&qid=1586959627&sprefix=the+unsav%2Caps%2C153&sr=8-1
