Here's Hope

Here’s Hope:  “One day there’ll be no more anger left in our eyes, one day the color of our skin won’t cause a divide. One day we’ll be a family standing hand in hand, and we’ll see the promised land. Hallelujah, there will be healing from this heartbreak we’ve been feeling. We’ll sing in the darkest night cause we know that the light will come and there will be healing, Hallelujah!  Song: “One Day” by Cochren & Co.

“We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.”      Psalm 33:20-22

Consider This:

Where are you looking for hope today? I hope “your hope” is being found in our God and the promises written in His Word, the Bible. Just let the words of the Psalmist encourage you today, “We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.” How much more comforting and encouraging does it get? In the New Testament book of Hebrews, we can read these words (in the New Living Translation), “What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.” Hope in God’s economy is spiritually discerned. Yet, with faith, we hope and believe that God is going to deliver us from the worry of this world, one day. Think back with me and remember when you have gone through other difficulties. Did you sense God’s presence? Did you make it through the trying circumstance? I believe you can answer in the affirmative.

As of late, I have been on a quest to find good news in the middle of the confusion and difficulty our nation and world seems to be experiencing. For example, on a news show yesterday, I heard an interview with Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of the New York. Now I acknowledge, we are not Catholic. However, I have heard Cardinal Dolan several times before and every time I hear him speak, I am encouraged by his perspective about life and where our hope can be found, in Jesus Christ. Cardinal Dolan said, (regarding our current national situation), “We need hope and patience, this will work out. We are seeing signs of rebirth and renewal.” Then he pointed to how our healthcare workers dedicated themselves to seeing us through this pandemic throughout our country. Non-Christian people are searching for hope and we have the opportunity to point them to the One who is our greatest Hope, our Creator.

I can agree with words of hope like that whether I am Baptist, Methodist or Catholic. I am grateful for Cardinal Dolan positive and encouraging words about “Who” our hope is in, Jesus Christ. So be encouraged today, remember God’s faithfulness to you and your family throughout your earthly journey. “We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and shield.”

Prayer: “O God our help in ages past, our hope for years to come.” Father we praise You for your faithfulness to us as your children. Please help us to remember how you have been with us through all our trying times. May we take comfort and hope in knowing You have given us a loving and all sufficient Savior in your Son, Jesus the Christ. May we praise You this day for your goodness to us. Amen.
