Notes in the margin of my bible are like treasured markers, small markers on a spiritual journey reminding me to stop and consider or reread. “Paul had it to give…” is a five word note I wrote alongside Philippians 1:2 – “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Paul had it to give because he owned grace through salvation and peace from the Spirit of God living in and through him. He didn’t put these on like a favorite old jacket on Sunday morning, he owned them. “Paul had it to give….”
What do you have to give right now? Fear or Faith? Worry or Worship? How do we gain spiritual growth and traction in days of darkness? Where do you find your spiritual surety? Paul was generous in his exhortation to grow and gave us ten stepping stones to equip or hearts and minds with spiritual truth and to become more like Jesus. Here is his masterclass - “Dwell on THESE things.”
Whatever is true
Whatever is honorable
Whatever is just
Whatever is pure
Whatever is lovely
Whatever is commendable
If there is any moral excellence
and if there is any praise
Dwell on these things.
Do what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:8
Prayer: Lord – Thank you for these doable steps which capture turn my worries into worship and by dread into something that you have redeemed. This is Hope. This is the Kingdom at work in me. And this is worth giving away. I worship You.
Blessings – Dwell on those things!
